Solar-Powered Farming: Family Embraces Sustainable Lifestyle in the Countryside
Clenergy today released a short film in partnership with Gardel Electrical & Solar, Canadian Solar and Sungrow. The film showcases a Queenslander family moving to the countryside, where they embark on a new farming life powered by solar energy.
In response to rising costs, the Sporne family from Western Queensland made the decision to trade their current lifestyle for a sustainable farming life in Mundebbera. They moved to a cattle fattening block of over a thousand acres and began a new farming life by tapping into the potential of solar energy.
The film illustrates a sustainable property that was made possible through a collaboration of solar companies working together to deliver an innovative project. Gardel Electrical & Solar has designed an aesthetically pleasing project of 126.6 KW up on the roof, and a V-shaped ground mount array to source a balanced solar production throughout the day. The system comprises Canadian solar panels, Sungrow inverters, and PVezRack mounting gear from Clenergy.
“We are excited to be able to use solar energy to power our farm,” said Brian Sporne. “The solar installation has enabled us to reduce our electricity costs significantly. We are now able to power all six water pumps from 8 AM to 4 PM with a large reduction in sourcing electricity from the grid, allowing us to provide water for our cattle and crops, especially Lucerne.”
“Lucerne is a crop that is rich in protein and nutrients essential for cattle growth and health. It also helps to improve soil quality,” said Brian Sporne. “We are committed to producing high-quality, nutritious feed for our cattle in a sustainable and cost-effective way, and Lucerne is an important part of that.”
“We are thrilled to work with Brian and his family to help them achieve their goal of sustainable farming. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our project partners – Canadian Solar, Gardel Electrical and Sungrow. Together, we have made significant progress towards a sustainable future, and we are proud to have played a role in this effort.” said Samir Jacob, Global Marketing Manager of Clenergy.”
“At Clenergy, we believe in a sustainable, clean energy-powered future. We hope that this video will inspire others to take action towards a sustainable future and join us in our mission to make the world a cleaner, greener place.”
“With the rise in energy costs around the country, we’re seeing more and more Queensland farmers install solar for irrigation pump efficiency, and slash thousands from their electricity bills,” said Sam Gardel, Managing Director of Gardel Electrical & Solar, based in Brisbane.
“Being able to work hand-in-hand with farmers to understand their electricity loads, operations and irrigation systems allows us to create an energy management solution that is efficient, sustainable and realistic.”
“We are proud to be part of Australia’s transition to a clean energy future, and we are committed to supporting the country’s ambitious renewable energy targets. This commercial solar project in remote Queensland is a great example of how solar power can provide reliable and cost-effective energy solutions to communities, even in the most challenging environments. Canadian Solar is honored to work with Clenergy, Sungrow and Gardel Electrical in Australia and contribute to the country’s efforts to address climate change and promote sustainable development,’ said Minnie Xu, Canadian Solar Senior Marketing Manager, Global Digital and ANZ.”
“Through collaboration with Canadian Solar, Clenergy, and Gardel Electrical, we have been able to build this meaningful project in Queensland. Everyone’s contributions have been invaluable, and we are truly grateful for all the partners’ unwavering dedication to achieving the new farming life for the Sporne family,” said Bill Chu, Sungrow Australia Marketing Manager.
With this solar installation, the Sporne Family aims to inspire other farms in the countryside to embrace clean energy and sustainable farming practices. The project serves as a testament to the potential of solar energy in transforming the farming practice towards a sustainable and clean energy-powered future.
